Apparently, a menu dated during 1615 has been found, a full hundred years before the Scots were involved in what can be a somewhat dodgy meal, that is if you even dare to eat it!! No more "Och ie Jimmy", just a good old English "Oh, hello James"!! Thinks.....that should start a few tongue's wagging. |

Can you imagine Royalist soldiers being told to "go to work on a haggis". Maybe the haggis would have been sold at the Eagle and Child pub in Oxford - frequented by Royalist soldiers during 1642-1646. Swill it down with a pint of beer (yes the pub has been officially selling beer since 1650) so who know's? |

(For those that dont know it, a haggis is a pheasant-like bird with one leg slightly shorter than the other, developed from the environment where it lives, this deformity allows it to run around the mountain-side whilst maintaining an even balance). lol |

The only "concoction" here, Diana, is Michael's story about that bird! I do agree with your description of the real haggis though. YUK! (Hey, guys, love the Tartans and pipes though!) |
