I know lots of you are cat-lovers so you will understand this post. Today we got the news at the vets that our darling persian Rosie has terminal cancer. She has had some lumps on her skin, which were removed 6 weeks ago but today we sought a second opinion and the new vet found lumps in her tummy. My husband and I are so very sad today and shocked that we are going to lose our fluffy girl. Sorry this such a miserable post but I needed to 'talk' to friends. Love to all, Maz xx |

My beige tabby Jingles had a hemangiosarcoma which is a very rare form of cancer in dogs let alone in cats. He had to have a leg amputated. Check with your local health food store where you can buy natural herbs. I used them for Jingles and it kept him pain free and happy as a kitten until he passed away. He actually gained 1/2 pound before he went. The three main products I used were Integra CF, Hypericum and Arnica. The Integra you might have to find online. Wish you all the luck with this as I know just how precious your cat is to you. Mine are like my children. |

I will definietly try some of the alternative remedies for Rosie. It was such a shock when we heard the prognosis today and we are in pieces. Some people would think we are nuts for being so upset but this little cat is a big part of our lives. the awful thing is that she was operated on for some lumps 6 weeks ago by another vet and we weren't happy because Rosie's character seemed to change after her op. She hated coming indoors and would dash in, eat then run away again. We now wonder whether the original vet missed the mass in her tummy we now feel so guilty to think that she may have been suffering. We sought a second opinion and today was our first consultation with a wonderful and caring lady vet. Apparently, Rosie's changed behaviour is typical of a cat who is very unwell. She has been prescribed a liquid painkiller but we have been told that she only has a short time left. Bless her little heart. We are going to have to be very brave and make the decision to have her put to sleep quite soon and that is going to be horrible. At least we now have a brilliant vet who will support us when the time comes. I am so sorry to hear about your dear pets too and thank you very much for caring. Our pets are indeed very precious aren't they. Love, M xxxxx |

We've been through something similar with both a cat and a dog, and it's truly heartbreaking. I'm glad you have a supportive vet, we do, too, and it helped very much. Hugs and prayers. |

I'm very sorry. Last December, I had to put my cat to sleep and it was heartbreaking. But everyone here was so kind and compassionate. You're in my thoughts and prayers. We who love our pets know how much this hurts.

My longest living cat was 17 years old, one we have now is about 12 or 13 years old. Yes, it's sad to hear of these things in people and animals...they are like parts of our family also in thier own way. |

We had our darling girlie put to sleep 10 days ago and Neil and I are still feeling terrible about it. The tumor in Rosie's ear was bleeding badly and we decided (after long and painful discussions) that it was time to say goodbye to her. Our vet was wonderful and made Rosie's death as tranquil and dignified as possible. The day after, this lovely vet sent us a beautiful card and a letter saying that we had done the right thing. We are so grateful to her-her compassion really helped us. Our neighbour gave us a lovely white rosebush to plant in memory of our beautiful girl. I know the pain we are feeling will ease in time but as you all know only too well, it is awful losing a much loved feline companion. Thanks again-your replies really are appreciated xxxx |
