I've had the time of my life. I cried coming home, even if I have suspected swine flu!!! I've packed so much into my time in the USA it is unbelievable! New Yorkers, I love you. You crazy, crazy people (Yellow cabbers mostly LOL) with your lovely nature, great SOH and welcoming attitude. Your hospitality (too tired to spell sorry lol) was a credit to you all. I wish I was still there now to share our great crazy stories of each of our cities. In the Irish bars, please raise a toast to us all. Bless you!

It's going to be tedious resizing the blooming lot! LOL! The plane ride out was fantastic! I used an American airline to fly, recommended to me by my nephew who warned me against certain British unmentionables! The staff were lovely, efficient, polite, helpfull and nothing was too much trouble. The plane doesn't fly out in a straight line as I thought it would, but arcs, so, I even have shots of land from the plane which I'm not sure is Canada or Boston maybe. I just thought it was so amazing! I am tanned to a crisp even though we touched down in the pouring rain. The weather soon heated up, as you will know. Cripes, I've walked the Brooklyn Bridge, sailed past the Liberty, been to Central Park, my hotel was over the road from Madison Garden, I've had photo's taken with Policemen, firemen and their horses, Not to mention Morgan Freeman We got lost on the metro (ended up in Queens!) Times Square was buzzing day and night, and what I realy loved was Staten Island. I went over twice. I've done tons more, but I would be here for ever telling (boring ?) you! LOL! Ground Zero was somewhat sombre. I'm not sure I like my photo's of that, I hope they are not ghoulish. Edited by: Babs ' at:4th September 2009 21:34 |

It is quite beautiful walking along the front looking over the Hudson to NYC. We went because we used the ferry to view Liberty as the main ferry over to the statue had a 4 hour long queue! I wasn't doing that in the blistering sun. We got a great enough view of the lady as we passed on the Staten Island ferry. There are two walls, I took a photo of them, they have the names of lots of people and the day they were born. They all died on the same date; the walls are built in a linear perspective, so when you look down the two, they point over to where the two towers used to be. That is why there is no need to mark their day of death. Very sad. Stephanie, thanks. I'm back but I'm unwell. Whether it is just flu or swine flu I really don't know, but I did have the best holiday ever though and this damn flu is not going to spoilt my memories. |
