I like the name - 'Ashby de la Zouch'. An historic town in North West Leicestershire.

Some history here - http://www.localauthoritypublishing.co.uk/councils/ashby/index.html

Whenever I encounter the town name Ashby de la Zouch, for some reason in my mind I automatically tack on to it "Ze greatest swordsman in all of France!" I don't know if that is a manifestation of my strange sense of humor or merely my slide into insanity!!! That being said, Ashby really is a very nice town and well worth a visit. The castle ruin is spectacular as is the 15th c. church of St. Helen. Great place!

Rob, I had a similar thought when I saw that!  You're a man after my own twisted sense of humour!

Rob, I have uploaded three pics of Stratton Strawless. it was in the doomsday book as Stratuna, meaning 'house or farm in Saxon', and the Srtrawless meant  'poor soil' so maybe you were correct in thinking it was short of straw.Embarassed

Sounds like "Looney Bin" time for both of us, Barbara . . . oh, wait, isn't that the name of a town in Rutland?
