This is unbelievable. Unfortunately incidents like this are becoming common place in many companies in today's economic climate. Never-the-less, hard economic times do not justify this type of outrage.

Gov. threatens to ban hotel chain

Patrick says no more state business at Hyatt if workers aren’t rehired. Hotel says his boycott plan could endanger more employees’ jobs there

At the governor’s direction, state employees will halt all official business with the Hyatt unless the hotel company rehires recently-fired housekeeping staff — a move that has sparked public outrage.

In a letter, Gov. Deval Patrick expressed displeasure with the Hyatt for replacing 98 workers in area hotels with lower-paid workers from an out-of-state staffing firm.

“[The] manner in which these workers were discharged is so inconsistent with both the expressed values of the Hyatt organization and basic fairness that I do not believe any other remedy than full reinstatement is adequate,” Patrick wrote.

Phil Stamm, general manager of Hyatt Regency Boston, questioned the boycott, saying it would affect hundreds of hotel workers still on the job.

“We do not understand why the Governor is putting more Massachusetts jobs at risk instead of working with us to find jobs for employees affected by the realities of these unprecedented economic challenges,” Stamm said in a statement.

The laid-off workers had also apparently been training some of the new employees before being let go Aug. 31, according to reports. Hyatt has said it treated the employees “with fairness and dignity” and denied reports they were “tricked” into training their replacements. Last week, Hyatt also announced plans to extend the workers health care coverage and assist in them securing new jobs.

This happens all the time these days, esp in the computer industry I understand...I've seen it go several ways though.....

1. when individiuals become an  group after being hired and it foms an "body" within the facility that has more "clout" about what happenes in the company... then the people running it. Now as strange as this sounds, this was done two ways that I've seen, one was culturally by hispanics, and another was done by an group of people that lacked education. Both saw to it any employees hired soon left....to keep them in control...and both busnesses to my knowledge went down the tube given time. Mostly because education in nursing is what advances the facilty, and friends and people besides your own is what keeps an restruant bringing in new people all the time. Both stalemated most new ideas we supervisors and leaders had for improvements...and they did that, they agreed to what was said, but always never got around to doing it. How did they get back at theire superiors if reprimanded, they destoyed the place and stole from it by relatives on different shifts they had implanted. One group asked for an union in the place, and we(supervisors) were told had it came in that they were going to close the facilty and rename it and open it up under an differnt name, because state law rules are that the place has to be operating to justifiy it's  the petition of an union coming in one year prior. Now I have heard of companies that are going under that will offer their employees what they beleive an higher benefit of "unemployment" rather then starting over again from the bottom in some cases, particularly the computer industry. While it helps goin out th edoor to knwo your not completely broke, unemployemnt hardly pay the bills of daily life...or it didn't when I was in the working field, and most cases its only temporarily. There was an AARP law suit going on over something like this with older employees, as many employers feel to force retire them see's new people coming in working for less wages. For some their expertise in expereince can be of company profit also...it depends on the worker themselves I think.

2. My aunt, now deceased, married an Hyatt...my mentally slow older sister was under the opinion after my mother died that this aunt woudl help her, and when Icalled her up and talked to her, she said, that when she went back there she was "on her own", that she would help if possible...but her children came first. My mother had helped my sister buy an older home, before she died, and when my sister lost her job, she couldn't maintain the house, she wanted to sell it and move back east, I tried to get her to rent it out instead through an real estate manager....but she has never listened to me through the years being older...we were all made to cater to her in her youth and she expected that after my mother passed on also. As it turned out when she got it through her head that she was travelling 3,000 miles to basically no one there, she sit in her house until she lost it for back taxes, disillusioned and in part she lacked transporation to get to an job if she found one....had she rented it out, she'd still have an meager income, as it was... it forced her to go totally on state welfare. At first she was willing to try to work if she could find an job, but now, her health is so bad, she can't really. Her best would maybe be part time...if that. She is 62 years coming up this next year. But as to my aunt, this was not the kindness she was given during an difficult moment in her life, my mother took her in until she could get up and on her feet and never said an thing about it , particularly that "her kids came first"...it made me really mad to think this was how my mother was repaid when her child needed help. Maybe this is the true "Hyatt" treatment or something, being every one for themselves? I think it is sometimes people get what they give in ways, and in this case, perhaps one was overly protected, and the other one was ungrateful in her thinking...as all my aunt's children were grown pretty much when my mother passed on. They were not little kids. I caught up with my sister having an job for "board and room" there after in an private home care situation for the elderly....she called me telling me she was having an spine problem from lifting the patients, and her "boss" I guess felt she was faking it maybe and was pushing her...but I came in on something else, an boss that didn't think she had any family and was wanting to declare her incapable of taking care of her own affairs so she could collect social security "for" her, and yet still let her live there, as an "fre" worker..she was being told she had to tell her every place she went. I told my sister that she could not be an "free" worker, and be an "patient" at the same time, it was either one or the other....that is when I got the state to interceed through an friend I knew worked here...had been an state employment worker for years, to her retirement. She said the same thing, she can not work my sister beyond normal employee hours, and she does not have to "answer" to her actions, except for being to work on time...and she does not "work" if she is on disabilty for an back problem either..she called in the state assistenace program for my sister....they have been with her since then. Foster Adult care facilites are just like any other employer with an business. I wonder what else this gal cheats on to make an little extra money. Because my sister fought this lady wanting to go to the hospital for an spinal problem, this lady told the hospital she was "not mentally stable" and they therefore made her go to the psychatric ward while they checked her out medically, she was then made to go to an week's review at an medical hopstal for the insane. She was really scared at that one, That is how close my sister came..I was with her then when this gal came in to see if she had been diagnoised "incapable"of taking care of herself...and my first words were..when she said to me.."Who are you?"...and I said, the question lady is who the "hell" are you?...I happen to be her sister...she said, I didnt' think she had any family, I said, she certainly does lady...and your not it! Diana my sister's problems was she was born an "blue baby" or the embilical cord was strangling her at birth, they thought she was dead, and dad happened to hear her wee cry and came to her rescue from what I was told, bur she's kind of mentally slow, its hard for her to grasp on to things some times, she' very indedpendent, because mother taught her to be so...to protect herself...particularly against the opposite sex.  And its true, people love to take her for an ride if they get the chance. Not good! Essentially this was the master thinking of Geo Bush also, in his being able to take anything he wanted from other people..by declaring them incapable of making their own decisions...due to ther mental condition(guess who gets to determine it..why Gov. naturally) When people are in shock, depression, have no way to turn in life, they are not going to use the sense they might normally have but it is far from them being mentally ill...to not know what they want out of life. As  any country should...the people should fight this abilty of someone else deteremining their future for them in an forceful way...that is slavery...that is "nazisim",  that,... that is satanic. Enough about that one. It goes back to being "fair" would you want done to you....what you do to others? Same goes for the flu shot..it should be done on an voluntary basis. I will tell the first sign of the company going under, it's unfair to it's empoyees.  I would say the Boston Hyatt Hotel is going down here soon...and this is an last ditch effort to stay afloat. With today's economic challenges the old thinking is going out the door fast, this is the old thinking...get rid of th emanger an dfind one that can think o fnew way sto draw people into his establishemnt, even if its cutting room rates for an bit..if you don't receive an daily change of linens. if you stay more then two days and less then four days. Mybe this is the year to have the lobby "Chriistmas tree" that is the"talk of the town"...maybe seme of the employees can sing songs if they don't have the work there available...there must be something there can be done for these empolyees to earn their wages. I thought all employees wages were tax deuctible as part of the operating expenses. People are going to have to be inventable these days, without cheating others to do it.

I'm having fun with this bimbo following me around today...I made an statement in earthboppin and they shut down my whole computer, simply froze the post. I'm fairly certain its an male personna...I at times think its somemone like an Government monitoring group/military perhaps also. At least very knowledgable computer operators to do the stuff they do. Very contolling also. Not good.
