Ha, c'mon POE'rs tell the truth, how much do your kids love you? Perhaps you know of a friend in a similar situation, so how did they react? Did they fetch them home or tell them to get on with it? |

Is it their first time away from home? If it was my child, I think I would tell them to wait until the semester is over. Give it a few months and allow themselves to adjust. Unless of course the kid is truly unhappy and really not able to cope. In that case, I'd say come home but get a job and try school again in a years time. |

They figured that since they were attending college in another State, they would have to make the best of it, and that they did! |

My son had made four trips to various parts of Europe as a singer by the time he graduated from high school. My daughter danced for a summer with an international ballet ensemble in France and Germany when she was 14. These experiences gave them a taste of real life and a greater sense of confidence. I can tell you that these trips and our kids leaving for college were MUCH harder on US than on them! But as hard and emotional as it may be, I really recommend allowing your pre-college age kids to take a trip overseas (or over the Channel) if at all possible--it will make a real difference in their life outlook! |
