Most the time I just put up with it, by walking off the other way, but we'd have accomplished much more in life without it by now...had he not had this at times. |

My dad always snored really bad, and indeed the White family (dad's surname)had heart problems, his brother "Cliff" was born with is heart upside down, they operated on it, and changed it correctly in his older years, he lived quite some time afterwards also...passing away in his late 50's or early 60's I think, but he also lived an hard working farmer's life most his life in the mid-west. I have never heard Aunt Margaret (she's remarried now) say if their children ever had any problems, don't think so right now...at least not as little kids. Cliff was known by most those that knew him as an decent hard-working guy to know. Though I liked Velda also. Everyone back there knew her well also. She was Presdient of many things back there and founder of various social organizations.in thier area...she's the one with five different Richard's in the family. |

My uncle cliff's claim to fame was his pumpkin growing...he was probably one of the first to have huge pumpkins growing in compettion. Aunty Velda, sister to him and my dad is an Knappa capa something college graduate also..last time I talked to her, I said. Happy birthday!...she says, That' s what you think, would you like one of my five birthday cakes?, Richard and I can't eat them all even if we tried...and I said, they love you Velda...that' s what comes from being truly liked. ...Have you tried the local school cafateria/lunch room? She says,,,hum, I"ll think that one over. What I tell these people...tell them what you told me, Richard and you can't eat five birthday cakes and survive it..so you thought you'd share them...and whom loves cakes better then little kids? OK...How you doing these days.? Just fine, mind if I drive back there an take you out for your birthday...I'll bring Dad an Betty with me..we can maybe go have "salad"? Your joking!...NO..,,yes?...NO...see you in three days lady...later...bye. I did it..took 2 one half days driving. She was so glad to see us too! ....I think that was something like 2, 500 to 3,000 miles. We left her house for the day with my dad, an went to MIssouri to see my hubby's oldest brother, whom had an heart attack and was still in the hospital, heard all about his wife nearly killing him in an panic to get him there in front of the hospital, teased him in his nightgown, barely covering his"all"...talked to hubby's family most that night, drove back to my uncle's house in Nebraska, showed him my kids' wedding album for an quick stop...and then back to see Velda for another day, and came back to Oregon. That's what you do in an week Ron, you drive nearly some 7,000 miles....OK..at least 6,000 miles and see three family lines at the same time. Velda flew out to see me next, surprised us at Christmas time. My mother rabbit was in labor having bunnies. Being she's an farmer's wife of some 10,000 acres, she knows about taking care of the animals on the farm. I sent her pictures of the little ones...All of them. Gasoline was low enough back then it was no problem to do this kind of stuff for the most part...not now though. So I am glad I did it when I had the opportunity. My cousin was the next one to come out, he had an drive (trucker also) to California, hitched an job out of Seattle and saw us getting there for an day or so..it was near Christmas also...bought his kids some presents and left. His gasoline was business related. Everyone else seems to fly these days though, but in Nebraska they live in an rural area. airports are an hours or so away. We just had to drive up and see my sister in-law recently in Washington state, she's already been down here also..in her new car. Yeah...family times. There are getting less of them every year Ron...enjoy while one can. |
