I was brought up on Musicals - my Mom loved them. We used to do the house work to her Musical LPs playing on the gramaphone she had for her 21st birthday! Difficult to pick 1 favourite. West Side Story probably. |

I also have a soft spot for both Guys and Dolls and Brigadoon. My daughter played Adelaide in Guys and Dolls her senior year in high school. Both my son and my daughter were in Brigadoon in high school when he was a senior and she was a freshman. Ian played both the American and the Scottish lead roles, Tommy Albright and Charlie Dalrymple, on alternate nights. Leah played Jean Maclaren ("Bonnie Jean") on the nights that Ian played Tommy Albright. Since the characters Charlie and Jean were in love with each other, it would have been really weird and awkward for Ian and Leah to have played opposite each other as love interests! It's like Ian said at the time--"Hey, I love my sister . . . but not that way!" |
