So sad - well said Shirley. It breaks my heart to hear stories like this and I always think "There but for the Grace of God go I". A year and a half ago when my two youngest nearly drowned at the seaside I realised how precious our lives are and how life can change in a moment. I pray for the family. Alway thinking of you too Ruth.

Stephanie, that must have been a terrifying moment. Thank god your little ones were okay.

C.S. Lewis wrote, "Experience: That most brutal of teachers. But you learn. My god do you learn."

That quote is so true Diana. It happened in seconds - I saved them but there was a moment when I thought we were all going to drown. I couldn't lift them both out & I just had to hold them both up & find the strength from somewhere. People just passed me by even though I was screaming for help - eventually a hero pulled us all out. It makes you more aware of the dangers of water although I don't want to spoil the fun for them either. Sol is very scared of it now.

Yes, I remember that, Stephanie.  I can't imagine how scared you must have been.  Thank God for that Good Samaritan who finally came along.  You mentioned finding the strength from somewhere - pure adrenaline, I'm sure.  A mother defending her children like that finds divine strength.

Thinking of you too, my dear sweet friend.  xx

Did they find his little body yet, Ruth?  Sadly, we get the headline, and never the follow-up story.

Yes, Sue, hikers found him a few days ago, about 5 miles downstream from where he was swept away, God bless him.  I think his funeral was today, or it might be tomorrow.  It's so sad.  The photo they showed of him was of him in his little cap and gown, I'm guessing from his kindergarten graduation, which was probably only last year.
