As an adopted child, one of my greatest fears was that I would be sent back to the children's home. I can only imagine how this will affect this poor little lad. It's not his fault he has psychological problems, and his adoptive parent (was there even a father?) should face some kind of legal action.

My thoughts and prayers are with this little boy.

As long as you don't get sent back here Sue! Lol

Joking aside, terrible thing to happen to the little lad. Hope he will be okay.

Is there no adoption liaison between US & Russia for these children, that the adopting mother could have discussed here problems with?  Seems a bit drastic - I would think there is more than this to the story!  New boyfriend/husband who didnt get on with the child, change of lifestyle, something more!Undecided  I cannot believe that someone would have gone to all the trouble of adopting from Russia who wouldn't have tried every avenue of assistance to make it work out.

From what I understand he had severe mental problems that she could not cope with, I did not hear an father in helping her raising him right now either, but that he had been drawing pictures of buring down their house and other violent acts against other family members and she felt she apparently could not cope with raising him. I think they said he was 7 years old. They said she raised the money to fly him back and paid an cab driver $200 to drive him straight from the airport back to the center and agency  to where she picked him up at in Russia. It sounded to me like she just had not the funds to handle an child of his mental condition and it edged of being harmful to the whole household. You never know when you take these kids on as toddlers and such what kind of problems they have from their past...all kids are "cute" until you have to worry about them taking your life or one of the other kids while your sleeping...because they "felt like it" at the time. Before she gets rapped to much for doing this, let me remind you that many Russian parents gave their kids up for adoption for the money to buy new TV sets, because in the past they were harder to get ahold of then having another child. Starving their minds in the womb and after birth... leads to this kind of stuff, let alone alcohol and drug related problems, physical abuse. It takes an really special person to cope with them...and to have the money to do so in today's economy over here right now in the states...we have the worse and most expensive health coverage when it comes to helping our citzens then any country around.  I think she wanted him to go to some place better then what she felt she could provide. I think that might be better then just plain igoring him completely...and letting him raise himself out in the crime infested streets of today. Most these kinds of kids end up in some kind of "Government" facilty in the end anyway...out of pure necessity.

In conclusion..I just found this in the newspaper today...Shellbyville, Tennessee...Nancy Hansen told Associated Press that the motives of her 33 year old unmarried nurse-daughter, were sincere. The skinny boy seemed happy when they picked him up, but behavorial problems began sufacing there after. Hansen cited several problems which included screaming, hitting, and spitting on his mother...and flying in rages when asked to do things needing done. It has become to where the family fears for their safety ,eh has threatened to burn downt he house and destroy everyone in it.. Recently asked to correct his math problems to his school work, he flew into an rage and went to throw an 3 pound statue at his aunt, then visiting the family. Adoption experts say that often families are blinded by their desire to adopt and don't undestand in the case of older children exactly what they have endured in the past in possible neglect or abandonment.  In the meantime in Russia three Russian families have stepped forward to ask to adopt the boy...(and actually I think he might do better over there, being it is his "home" to begin with..there are times you can not remove a child from its home and expect it to be happy) The adoption lawyers say that rather Hansen's can be taken to court for abandonment themselves depends on rather the child was made an U. S. Citizen or not...at the time of adoption.

This article does not say how many other children are in the home and being cared for currently either...but if she has to work daily and this kid is an "special needs" child..I doubt she has the time to persue taking care of it. There is an picture of their house, it is unkept (by that I mean no flowers, shrubs, or trees in front..., gravel entryway driveway..nothing to resemble an "home" over an "house"...grass is in patches also) An outside simple ranch house that the garage has been filled in..as though its very "service" entry level housing as to its overall liviabilty...nothing "fancy" to it. Indicative of most low-income housing or state owned rental housing also. One last thing...I just got done reading the other day that "lack of water" or being hydrated normally is often what makes people "agressive" in today's society..if they are normal otherwise. I wonder though where this kid learned to at age 7 to "destroy" an house by burning it down?  Your normal 7 year old isn't supposedly exposed to such an thought to begin with normally. (to self-inflict anyway) If she simply can't afford the kid or deal with it persoanlly for extra attention it may need, she should tell the truth...rather then giving the child the history of an anti-behavorial problem in society. Adults have an great deal to deal with when it comes to abandoment issues with children,  I previously did an Grand Jury murder case ( jury witness) that started with an kid without his mother, and one that was raised by an parent that was inadequate to give the child an "home" or an normal life style, and he spent most his life feeling "unwanted" and in the end he felt that was what his father was going to do again, kick him out an abandon him and he "snapped" and tried to murder him, when his step-sister jumped on his back to make him stop, he turned it on her and stabbed her 17 times, killing her. So I really think, its better this kid goes to someone that can really help and truly care for him. Sometimes good "intentions" never see fulfillment in the lives of others...as it should of been.

This post was by Shirley...who had to take out time in the middle to be yelled at for not running up to save her hubby because I did not hear him screaming for help...I did not have my hearing device in my ear. I honestly think at times, he thinks I make this up not being able to hear, despite going to specialists for the problem. At any rate I was told being an floor lower here, that it was no excuse for not being there. I'm not quite sure what "retirement" days are going to bring to me...I know the money is gone, has been for soem time now...he has put the credit cards in my name only, so if any money is spent, I am the one repsonsible for them in the end. I need an way to earn income myself. More so, not sure how this will end up with my own son and if everyone ever thinks of helping him.

No matter what she had to deal with as far as the boy is concerned, what that person did was unconscionable.  She needs to be charged with child abuse.  Once legally adopted, she was his parent and responsible for him in every way.  Would any sane person put a child on a long international flight alone and just cross her fingers that he got somewhere safe.  I mean she didn't even have arrangements made for him when he got there.  She should be arrested and jailed.

I agree Ruth. If he was as bad as she said he could never have managed that journey alone without causing disruption on the plane! She could have got help to get the family through the problems, once adopted he was her son. It is hard being a parent but you can't just send a child back and have a refund!
