Same to you, Cathy.  It's 1:40 PM Sunday afternoon here, and a little too warm outside, but a lovely day nevertheless.

We have a long weekend until Tuesday, on Friday it started to rain and got cold, and it has been cold and raining ever since, it is supposed to clear on Wednesday - wouldn't you know it.  Then this evening we had a 3 hr power cut.  Brrrrr

Was the power outage due to the storm?

No, I think they were power shedding, there was no storm at the time!  Probably because of the cold spell there has been too much demand on the grid and not enough electricity stored!  Heaven help us in Winter!!

I don't think I've ever heard of power shedding.  So do they just cut electricity off now and again when there's too much demand?

Basically, thats exactly what they do.  Last Winter at least they warned us when they would cut us off so we could be prepared.  But tonight couldn't even cook supper or have anything hot to eat, nor hot drink.  Thank goodness for the gas heater and candles, lol. I must now unearth all the emergency stuff.
