The UK's longest running 'soap' opera Coronation Street has effectively 'sacked' butcher Asheley Peacock, his on-screen wife and the child actors playing their sons. According to the popular press, they went to see the new producer to see if they could effectively be given a new storyeline, an argument developed and they were told there services were no longer required! One of the things that surprised me when I went back for my first visit after 16 years - was that the programme was still on and that many people seemed to be quite happy to sit down and watch it!!
