I reember the day my mother had bought some rather expenisvebutter for an holiday dinner and my sister was taking it to the table and slipped on something, mom yelled..."Dont' drop the butter!" so wewatched her slide through the dinning room with her hand in perfect posture so as not to drop that butter!...and she didn't. We all laughed about it later on...maybe because of all the things she took out "enroute" sliding... but the butter.

Oddly enough--oil! Olive oil, that is--knocked over the cruet but caught it before much had spilled.

I just had leek and potato soup, and sure enough, I slopped it over the side while I was serving it.

No waste though, as I mopped it up with some fresh homemade bread.
