I have learned something valuable in the last few weeks which is gratitude.

When life gets hard and reality comes along and smacks you in the face, the best thing to do is to have gratitude for the things you do have in your life. We have to focus on the positive, not the negative. Negativty begets negativity.

So, as the universe gave me a thump on the head today, I was reminded to count my blessings. I thought it might be nice, when one of us is feeling the need, we can list the things we are grateful for.

I am thankful for:

my best friend...without this person, life would be bleak.

my home, my bed, the food I do have.

my girls...they are fun, smart and healthy!

my job and my coworkers...they drive me mad, but they make me laugh

my car

my family who are alway there to help me out.

many more to list..but this is a good start. Anyone want to add theirs?

Too true Krissy, it's called "counting your blessings"

I think I would have to be most grateful for my health so that I can do everything necessary while hubby has been so ill.

And for my computer, internet and POE, without these I'm not sure I would have been able to drag myself from day to day.  Thanks guys!!

Great idea for a thread, Krissy.  We all need to be reminded, in this era of 24/7/365 bad news coming at us all the time, that we all have some blessings to count, especially those of us fortunate enough to be born in the US or the UK in the 20th or 21st centuries.

Whenever I think I'm ill/bored/overworked/underpaid/slighted/used and abused, etc. I've only to turn on the TV news to see how many people would trade places with me in a heartbeat.  I am very blessed.

Sometimes it's hard to have an attitude of gratitude when you're going thru a storm in your life, but that's where the blessing is others to encourage you, comfort you, uphold you, pray for you, listen to you and be there for you.  In the 2 years I've been a member of this forum, I've seen all of the above here, and so for POE, I am very grateful.

Thanks to you all and God bless.

quotePosted at 09:55 on 16th August 2010

At this time I am going through one very horrible divorce. The ex is trying to wear me down to nothing. At this point I am suffering major panic attacks where I have not been able to sleep let alone get anything done. And this is all after having back surgery.

If it wasn't for my Mum, my friend Ann and another extremely special person in my life I WOULD NOT BE HERE. I am so grateful to the three of them whom I know love me dearly.

I am also very grateful to Cathyml, Urmi and Peggy who continually email me and check up on me. They are the most wonderful people I know.

Besides that I am so happy for blue skies, green trees, grass, beautiful flowers and lovely little creatures that make me laugh.

And most of all I am very grateful to my Heavenly Father for his unconditional love and the strength to carry me through this horrible lingering problem.

I know this sounds weird but I am also happy to have had an ex who is such a self righteous, irresponsible, bully and a** to be able to show me there are much better people out their that I don't have to put up with this garbage anymore. I hope it all comes back to him trifold! Money has always been his love of life and has set a very bad example to my daughter. Now she feels she is not worth of the money to pay for her medication or her therapy and has stopped all of her treatment. And he won't even offer to pay for her. He just keeps harassing her to talk to him about it. She never wants to see him again. You would think as a parent you would just do the right thing and not let the child worry about it or put demands on his responsibilities to her. My daughter is more of a grown up than he is. Such a shame she cannot have the pleasure of a father who deeply loves her without any strings and would be willing to do anything he can to help her to be well without having to discuss every detail with her.

Sorry for ranting on, I needed to get that off my chest. Frown

Hi Cathy, I am so glad to see you popping in and that there was a thread for you to "get it off your chest".  I think of you often and am sure that by this time next year all this will be in the past and you will have moved on and be in a much better place.

I'm sure that you will have saved beautiful photographs in your "favourites", perhaps when you feel a panic coming on you might have a look at them and be calmer!  There is beauty and peace in the world all around us and thanks to the POE photographs we get to see so much of it on here.

I am glad I have a friend like Cathy E. With all her problems, she still found time to think of me and knit me a scarf and hat for the winter. Not to mention the cost of wool and postage.

I think that people should know of your beautiful nature. Cathy I love you as a dear and caring friend. Xxxxx

Thanks so much Krissy! Kiss

Cathy you are right. It does make me feel good to see the pictures of the land I love so much. I dream of days traveling throughout the country taking my own pictures. Thank you for your caring heart even though you have a lot on your shoulders right now.

My dear friend Peter I think I had just as much joy while making the hat and scarf for you thinking of how happy it might make you. You are such a good, caring and loving friend. Thank you for that friendship because it means the world to me. xxxxxxx
