This is to be introduced by the Tory Government soon! So do those earning £44k really need child benefit? This applies to one wage earner in the family apparently. That said, both partners can earn just short of that figure each and still get child allowance. Hmm, seems something is wrong here, what do you think members?

Me? I'd just like to earn £44,000...

From what I've heard on the radio/news, someone earning over £846 per week, will miss the £20.30 per week they get if only 1 child; that £20 is making a big difference to have taken away;  that's not even the cost of half a tank of diesel for their premium brand German car, or similar we'd likely see them driving.

Having lived 40 years in a non-welfare state I do not understand what the fuss is about.  If you choose to have children then you choose to support them from your income, whatever that may be.  Why should the rest of society pay for your children?

I understand that you also have free education - we have to pay for our childrens' schooling here, (and they still all wear school uniforms too, plus having to buy all their book and stationery requirements).

We must also provide our own medical aid insurance.

And pay into private pension funds.  All out of much lower salaries!!!

Some people do not realise how well off they actually are!!!
