Thanksgiving in America means mostly pigging out on turkey dinner, watching or playing football and perusing the ads for the big shopping day tomorrow.  But I think most people like to take a little minute to reflect on their blessings, and we in America are probably the most blessed people of any in human history, and accordingly should have the least to moan and complain about.

Even if you don't celebrate an "official" Thanksgiving Day, it's good sometimes, to pause and reflect.  A lot of people will be sitting across the table today from an empty chair, and many others will simply stay in bed because the empty chair can't be faced.  So lift a brief prayer for them today, if you would, for God's comfort.

I'm thankful for:

my family, friends and co-workers

all the wonderful people here at POE

a very recent good report from the Dr

where and when I was born

my husband and I both still have jobs and relatively good health

I got to visit England twice in my life and am looking forward to future visits

the beauty of the state I live in (Arizona) and the opportunity to enjoy the beauty of the British Isles through this lovely site

How long do you have?  :-)  I could go on and on.

Thank you, Lord, for all of this among many other blessings, and for all the precious people here.  Bless each and every person who looks at this today with your peace and presence

.

Just a bit of how the USA came to have a national day of Thanksgiving, if you're interested.

We get bombarded with bad news 24/7 nowadays.  So post us a little good news here.

What are you thankful for?

I am thankful for my girls (they are incredible kids), my health, my job and my dearest and closest friend, whom despite my sillyness sometimes never leaves my side. Without him I'd be lost.

Hiya Ruth!!

As strange as this may sound...I'm thankful for the " patience and

guidance" I receive from God daily to get me through another 24

hours unscathed from the worse of the day. Good friends...loving

people that share their good with me...let me be an part of thier

life and activities also. My hubby came home last night to tell me

of another freind passing last week. We do need to count our

blessings more often then we do.

I'm thankful for:

My loving wife with whom I've happily spent the last 37 years.

My talented, generous and dedicated children, and their wonderful spouses.

My granddaughter and step-grandson.

My profession and the opportunities it has afforded me over the years.

POE and all who contribute to this great website.

Good health.

The sometimes painful learning experience of daily living with my frail, aged parents, both of whom are increasingly suffering from varying degrees of dementia.
