The UK Government is apparently under pressure to stop this man setting foot on UK soil. Is that right do you think, or should he be allowed the same rights as any other who wants to join us here?

Shirley, he's Pastor of a US Church who had planned to burn copy's of the Koran on the anniversary of 9/11. I understand he then cancelled his protest and thus decided not to carry out his threat. Clearly he is a controversial figure who plans (UK Government permitting) to address the so-called English Defence League (EDL) in London.

I don't see why he should be stopped from addressing the EDL. After all, and as James says, there are plenty of others with similar and of course differing views on all subjects, that have been allowed in.

Pastor Terry Jones has been internationally condemned and has sparked fury throughout the world.

I have strong opinions of this topic and I have always believed that when people representing a faith of any denomination, who wish to expand the word of their belief, then, they should do it on their OWN soil...and not go traveling around the world doing so. There are many ways & means to allow their word of religious belief to be heard, read, watch on tv, listened to on radio, dvd, cd, etc etc and thus they do NOT need to be traveling around the world  acting like someone who demands respect, etc, just by their sheer presence.

This has absolutely nothing to do with believing or dis-belief in any and all religious faiths. This is NOT intended to deface, ridicule or slander any faiths, but it has everything to do with  the many so-called religious leaders who trapse around the world acting like they are some special person , when , in fact, they could accomplish all they hope and need to accomplish via the many media forms available today.

I  used to live in USA and have heard the many religious leaders speak, and each of them have important things to say. America has freedom of religion and one if it's rights and that right in the constitution allows for many false gods not GOD, to take up the Holy Bible and interpret it their own way to their own financial benefit and for THIS reason...I say....Keep the hypocrits out.

I truly apologize tho those who may feel offended by these statements, for you are the ones who are true, faithful beleivers. It's the rest of the crowd !

Beth, I don't think these self-important hypocrits should be espousing their twisted interpretations of the Scriptures at all - no matter where they are or through which medium they use.  This man, and others like him, give true believers a bad name, particularly when associated with an established denomination (Baptist in his case for example).  I fail to see what purpose burning the Koran would serve anyway, other than making a lot of people angry.  This is not the message he, as a pastor, was commissioned to share with the world.  He is wrong.

I can't see that they will ban him from coming into England. People will listen and chose to believe or not believe in what he has to say.

Is he part of the same group who go to the funerals of fallen soldiers or memebers of the gay community and protest, carrying banner and chanting hate in the name of God?

They definitely worship a God, and this one goes by another name too, Satan.

Sue, that's a different congregation in a different state, but they fall into the same category as Mr. Jones.  I understand they're planning one of their protests for the funeral of Elizabeth Edwards.
