Yes I dream of speaking Kernewek (Cornish) but a few phrases is all that I have so far managed. Apart from it's almost impossible pronunciation (one tip--dh is pronouced th) it's the grammer that gets me. Words move about the sentence in translation and also words mutate in certain cicumstances making life very difficult to understand a language that until very recently had quite a few dialects and no standardisation of spelling. Well if a couple of MPs can swear the oath of alligiance in Parliament in Cornish, then there is hope for us all. Dha weles, Kernow bys vycken |

So far - no one has admitted to being fluent in another language!! lol. Maybe your friends could register on POE and tell us about their linguistic talents? |

The only reason the English tend not to learn other languages is because we tend to be a little 'lazy' and consider our language (English) to be the number one international language. We only bother to learn others if we think it benefits us, ie if we wish to travel or work abroad. |
