The government is attempting to sell off millions of acres of forest land, owned by the taxpayers, to wealthy private buyers. Is there nothing that this administration wont sell, how about a 'car-boot' sale in Downing Street every Sunday morning (thats if there is anything left of our country to sell!)?Frown

do you refer to the Prime-ministers 'country residence' Beth, the largest 'council house' in England? (for our overseas friends, Chequers is the State-owned Mansion set in its own grounds for the use of the prime-minister and his family, along with the London 'flat' in 10 Downing Street and ofcourse the PM has his own home that he vacated when he moved to number 10. So much for those that sleep on the streets of London cause they have no roof over their head.

To their own folly...remember...it's doomsday this year 2012....I imagine that mankind will make it that way for everyone but themselves...so they think.

I presume if they sell off the forests there will be no wood left, let alone trees. It will all just be exploited with no thought for the future.

I was reading the other day predictions in the past made by others.,..one of them was that Britian would take up going into outter space..this was some 40 years ago or so...if you have sold everything, maybe it wouldn't be to bad an idea...the first space ship hotel of its kind...just off the outter boundries of our atmosphere...3 day vacation packages?.... You'd never have to worry about riots and what-not...earthquakes, floods...bad weather. Might help to stimulate the eonomy and give people something to think about in the future.

How many of you knoiw the tremedous effect of forrests on planet earth?...the tropical forrests along our equator is what keeps our seasons balanced...holds the line in our weather patterns. They create their own rain storms daily depending on the season and location. Trees take in our carbon dioxide also and leaves us with mositure in the air and cleaner air. An beautiful thought about them comes from the Native Americans...whom call them our "grandparents" by way of spirit association...they stand as an testament to time in endurance in what the world puts out...like an kind old grandparent, they hover over the little ones with serene protection... don't care if we play within them,..and are gentle kind souls in their own right.
