I received an e-mail from our POE pal, Rick Sellers, who has not been able to join us in Forum much lately, but who is still out there and loving England and his POE friends.  Rick's house in Arizona is right in the middle of the "Monument Fire" that is currently raging, and he is staying in an hotel at the moment.  He has seen photos of some homes in his neighborhood which had been burned to the ground.  Our Rick could really use some POE prayers for rain, change in wind direction, protection from personal harm, and from loss of property.  Thank you.

That is heartbreaking to hear Barbara.  What a terrible loss people are suffering and hope that Rick will not be one of them, although I would hope that no one else will be affected by such  a terrible occurrence.  Thoughts and prayers for Rick and all his neighbours

Thanks CathyML for pointing out the duplicate thread (which I missed of course) and to Barbara for starting this thread.

Hope Krissy will see this one also as I deleted a post from Krissy.

Prayers your way Rick, from Anna and Ron. Can't imagine the trauma.

God bless you all...

I had an email from Rick yesterday.  Their neighborhood was spared, but all around them is devastation.  Fortunately, where Rick lives is mostly grasslands (which actually do quite well after a fire), and not the Ponderosa pine forests which take decades to recover.  But thank God our Rick is safe and the fire didn't get his home.

Might sound a stupid question, but if they know there's a risk of fire in certain area's why don't they build firebreaks, and not allow property to be built within a certain distance of the perceived risk, or do they?

How come it causes such devastation, maybe the winds?
