Sk Lawson Posts: 4014 Joined: 7th Oct 2010 Location: USA | quotePosted at 07:40 on 13th July 2011 I just went to the organic market...with it's fresh daily bakery....I picked up an most unusual bread...called " Spinach, Onion, and Parmesan Cheese" bread...each slice is 100 calories with only 10 calories of fat. I lightly toasted it...it was "out of this world" good! I've never heard of an receipe for this kind of bread..have any of you? I am trying it on my hubby tomarrow in his lunch with egg salad on it. But I can think of all kinds of things to put on it...no...not peanut butter and jam...more then just that....have any of you ever tried it before, or made it? |

Let's see...Ireland....Irish Soda bread....Italy...pizza dough...Mexcio..tortilla's...France....provencial herb breads....Massachusetts, USA....Boston Brown Bread...Ron ...gotta be "Bloody Mary" Bread...go with his shot of ale...just kiddin...let's see middle-east would be "flat breads"....Southern USA would be biscuits with Gravy no doubt....can anyone else think of any known to an particular region? |

The smell of fresh baking bread throughout the house is awesome. I miss the house smelling like cookies baking too. I'm dying to start baking again. Probably not too good for the waistline so I'll just have small portions! |

I use to like that..to go up to Mt. Hood Rv Resort in the old days...and they greeted you if you rented one of the modual homes with an bottle of wine and an loaf of fresh bread baking. Just to smell the mountain air and then wakl into the place...just made you feel at home. We went all out the year my daughter in-law was expecting our first grandson...there was little she could do for Christmas..hard to buy for because the baby was due the second week of January...didn't want clothes. Couldn't eat much. Smells turned her stomach. So we got thier biggest unit, with an fireplace and an extra attached family room and this bread and wine greeting us. The people owned the place knew well, to stock the rooms with short puzzles and games...and we set up most the night playing games and building puzzles...listening to music and by the fireplace. It also had an " hot tub" off the bathroom outside.We couldn't think much more she could do but sit and look at the scenery...this was over an stream also,,,but down, off an ways in an ravine to where you could look at it... up high and dry and safe. My brother rented an cabin not far away...he ended up staying longer and spent New Year's Eve with fireworks at Mt. Hood....We just had an real nice time there. Close to home so we could check on the animals and didn't have to take them with us either. My grandaughter wanted to sleep in the loft. I just wanted to sit myself and see the scenery out the windows which were completely around the family room unit. We took an pizza with us and an salad and left the next morning to buy breakfast near- by. In those days it was just us four adults and my grand-daughter...she was three years older...then her about to be born brother. But I'll always remember this because of the smell of the bread " baking"...just filled the whole room. I felt so at peace and "homey". |

It's very good. But then again, maybe you can come up with your own rendtion of it also. Read out on it says...total fat..1 gram..Sat Fat. 0 grams..Trans fat 0 grams...Cholestrol 0 grams..sodium 170 mg.....Total carbohydrate 20 grams..7 per cent..Sugars 1 gram..protein 5 grams..Dietary Fiber 7 per cent....100 calories per slice...it's not allergy free though..it's not gluten free either....depends on yoru particular alllergy I guess. It was $3 something for an 28 oz loaf...sliced. for me I have an long ways to go to buy it. The store that sells isn't very close to me out here in the country...as most things go usually anyway. Something we use to do in Weight Watchers was share product awareness on food items. These slices are big. They make an ample sandwhich. |
