Not actually Tapers but I will throw that one to you. I had in mind " Tallow Candles"

   The miner's even had to buy their own from the mine stores, so where ever they could work in the dark they would do so to save the extra pennies. The long climb to "grass"  ( the name they gave to the surface) on very slippery wooden ladders from depths of 3,000 ft. after a very long hard day's would very often be done in pitch blackness. Hat's off to those guys I say.

Hat's off indeed my friend. My dad's father and grandfather were coalminers in the Rhondda so in a way i'm quite close to the job.....A very brave breed of man.....

Best go look for another piccy, may not come on til tomorra
