I ask this of everyone I donate to. Also at the time I would donate I will need a receipt showing in US dollars the amount and date of my donation for tax purposes. Looking forward to your response. |

They have already made a statement asking for help from the members (who love the site) after they themselves have personally funded the site for 10 years or more! Only twice have they asked for help, and thats if you include my request, in this case suggested or reminded by Dave John in the forum. When you donate to any site (such as Wiki) you don't get a copy of the company accounts, you do it because you want to help keep the site running. So what do you suggest they do, send out a copy of the accounts to each and every 'potential' sponsor, and if so how much would that cost? It would defeat the object wouldn't it, in fact it couldn't be done through cost alone, with some 12,000 plus members!! I would add further that the POE Company is subject to English Law in that it has to pay it's taxes here and Certified accounts are available to those who need to see them, normally the Directors and the Revenue. If you wish to invest in the company and be elected to the Board then please let it be known, along with the investment that you are prepared to make. It's bad enough that Chris and Sarah (POE) have to even consider asking for help, and you didn't ask for any such statement when you achieved your Gold Star status previously, so why the change now? All donations via PayPal show the equivalent £ to $ conversion, and the date, which you could print off for 'tax purposes' as you say, so I don't understand what your problem is there either. Maybe it's just you looking for an excuse not to donate, in which case you need do nothing and if POE then suddenly disappears you can consider perhaps that your donation, no matter how small, might have made a difference. You say you are looking forward to my response. I don't think you mean that either, rather it's an attempt to stir up trouble that will result in my locking this thread. But note, I will not delete it so at least the members can see what has been said. Finally, your post was addressed to me. Remember, I don't own POE I merely act as voluteer Moderator like others, and get nothing for my input whatsoever. May I respectfully suggest you do not make a further donation to POE if it bothers you that much, but do continue to enjoy all that it has to offer! |
