Two examples of Insurance Companies and the way they treat us, and get away with it.

1). A friend had a fire at her home that caused damage naturally. Out comes the assessor from the Insurance company asking lots of questions, lots of writing, but when it came to it despite being 'insured' and paying the premium that 'they' required for cover, my friend was told that she would only get 'part' of the carpet replaced and the smoke damaged walls repainted, including the woodwork etc. So far so good maybe, or maybe not, because these scamming bunch of money grabbing, houdini businessmen will stop at nothing to avoid a payout.

They painted three of the four walls where the smoke damage was, and nothing more, leaving the other wall and the old paint looking very out of place. The woodwork was repainted part way also! I mean what sort of a job is that, the b....y insurance companies are as bad as the bankers.

2). Mate of mine has been with Co-operative Insurance for 'donkeys years' never had a claim, never had more than 40% no claims bonus offered, spent thousands of pounds with them, insured 6 vehicles with them for 40 years or more in line with his business needs, and today he asked for cover on a 3.5 tonne tipper and was refused because of his age, plus the fact that the tipper was previously a box van (so it had been modified). He gets up at 5 am every day of the week, does a full days work and is probably fitter than the woman who refused him cover from the Co-operative Insurance Company. He told them to stick their insurance up their backsides and will let the existing policies expire. So much for small businesses trying to get this Country out of the s..t eh?

I say shame on you Co-operative Insurance Company and I hope this review of your insurance on offer hurts you where it hurts most! I say steer clear of them, teach them a lesson.

Any other members got insurance stories they want to share?

Typo's corrected

Have to agree James, we've only had maybe 3 claims in 25 years and all of them sailed through without any problem. Can't remember which companies although I think one was Churchill. Did try it on a year or so ago for some plaster that fell off the 'understair cupboard'  which was basically wera and tear but they saw through it quite quickly with a few well chosen seemingly contradictory questions.......cest 'la vie

I contacted the company straight away and said i was clearing everything out that day, they came out and gave the ok to carry on with the work --we are still with the same company.Smile

true..know nothing about those in England though. Most the people in hurricane Katerina left New Orleans and just never went back, and many of the people siting disaster problems are for the most part helping others recover on thier own. When an small town on the west side of Portland flooded badly...the local furniture stores chipped in free furninture and where my son was working at the time chipped free semi-truck delivery tor their cause. Son's boss then also volunterred to deliver the Yakima Indians in Washigington state milk delivery at the Reservation when nothing was moving because of the blizzard. They took two tanker trucks with two men teams and went the long way over Stevens Pass with the help of the local roadside state plow in front of them helping to clear the ice and snow....but they got there...and the town was completely out of milk by then. Lot of people don't put to much into their houses these days for the high insurance costs. Pam will be posting tomarrow that she is getting classic symptoms for an San Francisco earthquake tomarrow supposedly and one fella is wondering if it wil lbe an repeat of the 6.9 Lome Preita quake during the last world series basball game there. We also have an hurricane "Sandy" headed up the east coast...and hope it turns out to sea before any damage is done. Its an good idea to think about protecting yourself these days in anyway possible. As far as insurance companies go..it's an business...wanting to make an profit...how big an profit determines how decently they treat an person. No doubt some are really unfair in thier practices. Your right...word of mouth generally gets around as to whose good and whose not eventually.
