Sk Lawson Posts: 4014 Joined: 7th Oct 2010 Location: USA | Posted at 19:35 on 19th January 2013 I cope just fine these days Ron, I have no desire to become a "nursing home patient" type by others, not my style as of yet...I ran into an new magaine..called "Pioneer" and it has an staff of writers ..one of them lives nearby in Sandy, Oregon..Will Dobkins. (Dobbins use to be my neighbors at one time..different group..mine went on to build an huge huge house in Happy Valley and he worked for the newspaper, it was thier old house I was going to buy for my mother to live in when she died..after that we moved also) Very informative magazine... I really enjoyed reading about the new products out there these days also. There's an survival pocket guide they mentioned with an idea from England... from the Special Air Services...there's mention also of an eatable survival guide you can carry with you also, has the nutrition of an cheese burger..and comes wrapped in reflective packaging..in the next issue of an car magaine..Land Rover,..they are going to give it away as an supplimentary addition to the car's manual in one of their magazines and say they have an circulation of 70,000 people. Wonder if it comes with pickles. Back to my book..."Amazing Grace"....Sarah and Seth make it back to thier house after the earthquake..now said 7.9 magnitude. Everything in San Francisco is still without power pretty much..all roads and bridges have been closed down due to hazzards from falling down... to basic insecurity of the structures. fires have broken out randomly. They walked several miles by foot before an doctor stopped by and took them the rest of the way home. Their house was an all brick house...they arrived to find the babysitter huddled with the two kids on both sides of her on the couch, near the door with candles..and woke them up. The house is an absoulte mess of everything everywhere, off shelves, tossed over, and windows popped out in the back of the house. No electricity,,,they ate bannanas fro breakfast and had what warm water was still in the facets with tea. Her hubby I wondered if he was going to have an heart attck, he was so stressed out the night before...announces he HAS to make an telephone an gets the babysitters old car and takes off...she was much against him doing so...thought it pretty unusual and they nearly get into an fight over it. He returns some time later stopped in all directions to an telephone. His balckberry still not working. They go upstairs..get in an argument as to what the problem is all about...and he confessed...he's kind of like an investment fund mamager for an group of people....what he was doing was kind of illegal in taking his company's money from his clients and investing it and letting it gain profits, taking that profit and them giving back an investment fund of another company... without thier knowing he'd been doing that...well,they walked in the day before to audit him...and he thought he had it all settled with his friend that helpes him... to transfer 60 million dollars of his own money... so all looked as it should in the books...he was going to do this the next morning.... and the earthquake hit the night before. Everything is closed down tighter then an drum. He figures they'll arrest him and take him to prison when they find out..money fraud.. unless his friend can think of somethiing real fast on his own to make up for this money...he doubts he can cover that much without his help. At the prospect of losing everything they have...going to prison... and being essentially homeless...I left her on the bed crying...realizing the gravity of the situation....him bitter, and feeling defeated in life...and in deep deep financial trouble. Next chapter we move onto the singing star in thier Fund Benefit for the Hospital when the earthquake hit...kind of portrayed as an "Madonna" type in her being famous. We haven't caught up with her since she went sliding into the arms of the Press agent during the earthquake...and singing her world wide "hit" song that night...everytthing instantly "stopped" naturally...her dress half tore off her..he handed her his "tux" jacket to wear. He went with the "nun" taking photograph pictures and she was left with her band..with the baby grand piano tipped precariously half way off the stage. See what happens next I guess. Sunny day here today..ended up not having to babysit the youngest grandson last night...now I do feel like of "lost"..laughs* I miss the kids.... but sometimes it's nice filling my time up doing other things. Maybe i can get the freezer unthawed that needs it so badly today..so talk to all later on. James...your lucky...no one does that for us out here in the country.. with houses stacked on top of houses now...and most" budgets" now a days they stick to town pretty much if they did, but as long as we have farmers near by with tractors we can...good hearted ones... sometimes get some help in plowing an path down the middle of the street..last time the local Reverand did it for us "old folks" more or less to say..we'd been snowed in then for several days. Hope someone thinks of you and helps you out. Things about having kids in the area...they most always will do little jobs like snow removable or pet feedings while on vacation... for an few dollars...or at least to here. Can't really say we have all that many kids any more. I use to give them $20 for feeding my rabbits when we were gone on vacation back in the old days..some 30 years ago. We gave Nicolas $100 for helping us with his dad on re-roofing our house, thowing shingles into an bin, doing errands for the guys, like getting more nails, etc....so he could earn money for "Scout Camp" one year. I paid my own grandkids money for helping spread " barkdust" last year as grandpa guided and helped them also. Scotty and Steve both use to help me " paint" in the house for money...and wash the carpeting on both floors while in school. I wish more people would try to help them these days earn money. It keeps them out of trouble and gives them some money for going places and doing things...but not enough to squander. I go for now...talk later..have an good day everyone! |
Sk Lawson Posts: 4014 Joined: 7th Oct 2010 Location: USA | Posted at 20:50 on 20th January 2013 Good morning..".sissy" is here. stayed last night... working on my computer for me....her mother said to give her an try...she thought she knew enough to do it now...so I did...got back my toolbar again, which is nice. Started the next project coming up in March..by getting an new bathroom sink and an new entryway shelving..already have the paint...need bathroom faucet now..later! Doubt I mention to much more about the book I am reading, as it's turning to more story on the four people whom have gotten together during the earthquake and thier lives...60 hours now since it happened, and four thousand are dead and they are still pulling them...our singer is working with the "nun" in the book, at an sset up field hosptial... her mother upset that an "star" as famous as her is out in the public..she seems to have met someone new, an fella from Berekley... and possibly much nicer then her dead beat boyfriend right now she has..he's either dunk or taking drugs of some kind when he's not working. The photographer is also becoming friends with the "nun" in ways..he's taking photo's yet of the damages and human stories going on...80,000 people in thier shelter they are helping to take care of right now. Things will return, but it's looking rather slowly. Help is flying in from all over the USA bringing food to keep them fed, clothing, and shoes for those that left the night of quake "shoeless" an in PJ's. Roads closed down tight as an drum even yet. Only communications coming from an public PA system every morning. Gal wit th hubby in trouble brought her little son in with an ear infection..haven't heard anything since then, she was headed back to what remains of her home. The National Guard has taken the city (San Francisco) and closed it off as to separate areas...so they can work their way through each area with the rescue people. Not to much more to be said..as they go into more of the story and not so much on the disaster. this book is called "Amazing Grace" and was written by Danielle Steele. yes...Earthquake Mary's last name is also "Steele"(lives in Sacramento)... and yes..she's an kind of shirt-tail kin in ways to me by her last name...an Native American lineage. After getting burnt here an while back, in my own real life disaster... she told me to look up an" healing platte" by typing it into the research web sites...and sure enough one came up. She said I would heal much faster...but eveyone working that's an psychic/lightworker rushed to my aide, as well as myself.. and it has seen me right now fairly well rid of the problem...only the worse spots remain and are light pink now. I've been fortunate to been able to walk (diet) the last several days outside, despite the ice where there's water drainage along the road edges...and it feels like an balmy summer with it having been so cold recently..the cold snap goes away later this week and it gets above freezing again and we get some much needed rain showers again. I go for now..if I'm not in next week as often....I'm writing again. The last I heard about "Grouse"... everyone in the last book I was reading was in the middle east...Egypt... having an drink at an bar as they deciphered the where-abouts of an archeaological artifact...they found it also later on....why I've been an world traveler in "books" since the New Year came in...Have an good day everyone....(ps...they changed an old restraunt near by me...use to know some people worked there to "Shirley's .Tippcanoe* on the Sandy River...it's old name was Tippicanoe and it's been around most all my life since I was an little kid. Not exactly our "POEville Pub"...but we still lcan work on finding one of those also...... Have an good day everyone! |

I've written about 14 pages so far and am now deep into Rennes, France at the moment with the Anjou and Poher family..getting ready to move into England around 900 AD...which is an feat in it's own..at only 14 pages... having started in Isreal and with King Solomon...I'm still working on my subject of "Gold" though in history. Just thought I'd pop in and say "hi" to everyone...but where is everyone?....I go for now..... and check back later on. Have an good day! |
