Stephen Fry has a name for that, something like Australian Accent Quotation, not sure if that's 100 per cent correct but something on those lines. I notice younger people seem to be doing it a lot more. Funnily enough our two sons do it all the time, the two girls not at all.

 

Another pet hate - use of the word "Absolutely" when they mean "Yes"

Over here the teenagers are saying something is "legit" (legitimate!) which has taken the place of Cool which took the place of Hot which of course means they really like something!! Smile
