I have just received the devastating news that Syd Harling passed away last week Monday.

Syd's son Stuart has written to me personally, as well as POE admin to let us know of his Dads passing. Chris and Sarah asked if I would announce this sad news to the POE members, as Anna and I had met with Syd in June last year whilst he was on vacation here in the UK. We had dinner together and became good friends.

This is such a shock, words almost fail me. Such a nice guy, we are so sorry Stuart and family, our thoughts and prayers are with you dear friends.

I should of course have mentioned Syd's other son Duncan - brother to Stuart in this announcement. We are thinking of your Dad you guys - a special man, a good friend, just so sorry for you.

POE members will miss your Dads banter that's for sure.

Oh my! This is yet another sad blow.

Syd was such a happy man, even after his own devestating loss.

I persume it was sudden and unexpected. Ron, did Stuart tell you what took him?

My condolences to Sutart and all who loved him.

I've not been here long enough to really know Syd, but I did know that he seemed to be very happy with his lovely lady. Very sad news.

Please pass on my condolences to his family.

I would have liked to add Syd's profile shot here but don't know how to do that so here is a shot of Syd taken by Ron in Oxford in June 2012.
