In reality, if you have a problem and make a claim you are likely to see the insurance company 'wriggle factor' that becomes effective having made the claim. The insurance companies will search the small print relentlessly for the slightest excuse to NOT pay out, such as in a fire that we had during the early days of our married life many years ago. The contents of a clothes basket and a settee were in fact 'melted and smouldering', but the insurance company said we were NOT covered as the items didn't burst into flame! We were covered for FIRE and neither the basket or the settee actually caught fire, they didn't burst into flame! We didn't get a penny and so my opinion is that they are a bunch of crooks who should be investigated like the banks have been, they need to be brought to book because they are scamming us at every opportunity!

Like yourself Ron it does not pay to tell the truth to insurance companies Licenced thieves vagabonds and s------s comes to mind |

Not worth it usually. Because when you read the fine print you find that it doesn't cover what expires off the original policy anyway. Which 9 times outbof 10 is exactly wheat you would want the extended policy for. |

On the other hand, many people try to defraud the insurance companies by staging fake accidents and fake theft. I live on a hill and the last two floods didn't come anywhere near my house. The insurance company doubled my annual insurance premium to help pay for damage to houses that were damaged by the last flood.I shopped around and found a better deal. The insurance companies made record profits since increasing the premiums. |
