What a load of rubbish that is surely?

They won't, or can't support, or save the former home of C S Lewis; a man who has changed the hearts and minds of millions of people throughout the world, yet they can support a b....y joke like that, disgraceful!

I'm not a NT member, but if I was I would make sure the direct debit didn't get paid ever again.

I am an NT member, simply because paying the annual membership is good value to gain access to some wonderful houses. The NT has saved many important houses, but this latest move seems like a 'dumbing down' in the extreme. I have noticed a trend by the NT to 'commercialise' many properties, with the emphasis on getting visitor numbers up and making it more family friendly. This is not a bad thing if it is done tastefully, but often it means extending the car-parks and thinning out the gardens. I notice with horror that there is now a giant kiddies slide on the terrace at Cliveden, but I think this is a temporary money-making venture to raise funds for restoration of the terrace.
