I agree that the polite but firm policy is generally best. There is no point in wasting my time or theirs. However, cold callers should realise that a polite response is not guaranteed if they attempt to prolong the discussion. Religious cold-callers seem to be insensitive to this, and appear to have unlimited time to try to get their victim to sign up to their particular religious delusion. |

I don' t like being rude and crude if I don' have to be. With so many people out of jobs, but then again...people are very keen of thieves these days...they don' t like anyone in the area most the time that they don't know...selling anything. Most our "Scout" fund raisers are now done with the parents present in an retail store....no more door to door selling, you can also buy from them on-line also. We have no desire to have our little kids walking the streets to make money of which the profit is very little most the time. You know with 27 kids along the street when we first moved here, we soon got sick and tired of all the school fund raisiers, and the inability to those that didn't get home the first... to go do the selling...we were glad they stopped if, if for anything "safety" reasons also. But you wanna bet I know my neighbors and talk to them if I get the chance and want them to know if I'm ever laying on the street unconsioous to call emergency right away...don't try to come out and save me...just call 911 as fast as you can...let them save me. |

But they always manage to arrive advertising take aways and fast food places 8 to 10 miles away. There're not actually fast food if you've to drive that far ! Into the recycling bag they go, only to be recycled to appear again a few months later |

It's good when they serve better food with less calories also...offer fresh fruit and salads. One of the problems this town has as it's an town built for people to go through...and not necessarily stop for to long, other then pick up something from an local retail store....and get to traveling again. |
