I think Dave might be referring to removing the blue parts of the flag to thus remove the white cross of St. Andrew, to leave the red cross of St George and the diagonal red cross of St Patrick.

OK, talking colors....when George Washington fought in the French and Indian War and they attacked his unit and their commander was killed...before he died...he handed George Washington his "red sash" of his military uniform...it was exceptionally important for him there after in all his political affairs...even unto his own death...so what was the significance of the "Red sash"...and could it have anything connotation with the "Templar Knights"...whose banner was an red cross. I was watching an show recently of the British Colonial Army... and while they wore "red coats"...their sash they showed them wearing was white.
