Got granddaughters laptop running very slow. Done a few tasks and now running a defrag programme and its take 40 mins to get to 1% so could be running all night at this rate

You're certainly getting bombarded with laptop problems this weekend Dave. It's many years since I did a defrag, I seem to recall they took a while.

Depends if they are done regularly, there is about 17gb on this one to defrag .... could take quite a while

I bet the one here that's been giving me grief this weekend has never been done, she won't have a clue what it means. I know it's been re set to factory settings a couple of times but I don't know how long ago. I wonder if I should do it for her

Going back to factory settings is not usually the answer, more like a last resort

It was a last resort Dave, something went badly wrong and the computer shop did it. Was a shame because they charged her - twice.

 Built from scratch, I wouldn't have a clue. Could you tell me the route to the defrag option, and I'll do it for her tomorrow, weather's looking iffy so it will give me something to do
