After May 1st 2015 air passenger duty on flights for those under 12 years of age has been scrapped, but is that enough to encourage you to leave the beautiful UK shores?

How much attention do you pay to cost once you decide to go away on holiday? No doubt you try to achieve the best price, but does £20, £30, £100 really make the difference between going away or staying at home?

I don't think Mr/Mrs Average actually cares about the cost once a decisoin is made, but what say you members?

In a small way it does not bother me as regards the cost of the holiday its all the extras added on that make it costly--we always fly from Manchester so that means a £55 fare for a Taxi other than that leave your car at the airport and that is costly depending how long you are away--ok your transfer when you arrive is included in your Holiday but once in the Hotel you have to pay a tax for staying in the Province which is on average £2 per night.--another rip off??Smile

And it only applies to those flying Economy and from 1 March next year, is extended to those under 16. If you've already booked at the higher price, some airlines will automatically refund you once the flight has departed; others will only then refund if you apply for it. Fuel Duty still remains as is.

if you're going abroad after 8 June and going to hire a car, DVLA has given you more things to do since your paper part of a photo card licence is ceased and no longer legally valid. Are all overseas car hirers aware of this and some might still want to see it. So, apparently , 24 hours prior to your departure, you're supposed to log on to DVLA who will require your driver number and National Insurance number to issue you with a pass code. This code lasts for  72 hours when the car hirer can check your details for the information they could require.  If you hire a car later than 72 hours. The hirer will need your NI number and then call DVLA's premium rate line to get your driving record.

Airline pricing to me is a mine field, and booking at the wrong time, to fly at the wrong time of year on the wrong days, book with one of their code-sharing partners etc, any savings you've gotten with the reduced child fare could easily be wiped out.

A mind of information as ever, thanks for that Paul.

That said, it won't affect me because I am unlikely to be flying anywhere. The UK and a cold pint of Guiness will do for me! lol

Apparently Paul they are not too keen on paying out either according to the television. Some refunds for late fights are still outstanding some 12 months or more later!

Wonder if they'd let you fly if you said I'll pay you next year?

Based on what I heard on the television last week James I wouldn't be holding my breath if I were you.

I do however think they need to be accountable and thus pay up when in the wrong or when the service fails.
