We were at Blarney on Nov. 6 last year Sue.  (I checked the date on my certificate of eloquence LOL).  The day we were there was fine and sunny.  I don't know if I'd want to make the climb to the stone on a rainy day, so if you have a chance to plan which day you go around weather, that would probably be your best bet.  I have a bunch more Blarney Castle pics, but for now I just wanted to put up some of the fall foliage ones.  We had a GREAT day there.  We bought sandwiches in a little shop and ate in the park near the castle and got to talk to some of the local people.  Then we just drove around.  County Cork is very rural and scenic.  We never made it to Cork City though.  Next time.  BTW the B&B we stayed at there is in the Blackwater River valley and right up the road from Patrick Flatley's place.  I seem to remember you are a fan of his.

I'dlove to kiss the Blarney Stone, although my friends all reckon it would be overkill!  LOL! Sealed

I know the feeling, Alan, as you can see from my postings.  I have a little trouble with the one-liner.  lol

I just put up some photos that I took in 1997, pre digital, and am surprized to see comments on them. Thank you all.

If only I could remember where I took them all, I could post loads more, but most of them are somewhere on the road to wherever.

I think you mean Michael Flatley Ruth, and yes, I love his dancing.

I'm still in two minds about driving, though that would certainly give us the freedom to go where and when we want.

My husband also wants to go to Waterford. Did you go there? I want to go to the Aran Isle too. So much to see, so little time (and money).

I'm grateful for the comments I recieved on a few of my pictures today and yesterday, always a treat.

Oops.  I knew a guy several years ago named Patrick Flatley, that's probably why I got the name wrong.  We didn't go to the town of Waterford, Sue.  But we were in County Waterford in the town of Lismore just driving around.  It's in the very western corner of the county and borders on County Cork.  And yes, I agree about the time and money.  I have a coworker who's been going to Ireland every other year and he warned me - don't try to see too much or you'll lose the real experience.  I think it's the same in England. You kind of have to zero in on an area and concentrate on just that.

Here's one of my favorite pics from our trip - Lismore Castle.  I don't know if they do tours - it's privately owned.  But a couple months after we came home I was watching the Jane Austen story "Northanger Abbey"and I said, "I know that place!" and sure enough, it was filmed at Lismore.
