I don't remember if this has been mentioned before. However, for all those ones who are not comforteable with Photoshop etc., this is a free piece of software for basic photo editing.

In addition, altough the advanced features need the Deluxe version, the free one has still got some nice adds-on like frames, draw/text adding and different templates to play with your photos that may come in handy over the next holidays:)

Their Deluxe, Creative and Media editions provide a wide selection of advanced and creative tools (check out the scrapbooking:) , but with a very low learning curve compared to other software.

For PC only.

Very cool, Maria.  It looks similar to Infranview, which Peter turned me on to.  I need all the help I can get and the more basic, the better.  lol  Thanks!

I've just had a free trial with Lightroom 2 and must say I prefer Photoshop but quite a few people I know love the new Lightroom.

Adobe allow 30 day free trials which I think is a very good idea.

And if you have a more recent camera, such as a Canon 5D MK II, that Adobe isn't updating their ACR ( Raw file) for, so earlier editions than CS4 won't open its' RAW files, Adobe's Lightroom 2 or Elements 7 would provide a cheaper alternative to CS 4.

Good points. Have heard that plug-ins are available but I'm not sure. I think the Elements 7 is very good value, but I'm still tinkering with Lightroom as I have a few more days left on the trial but I'll probably just stick with Photoshop CS3 as it copes with my Nikon D70 & D300. Not in the market for a new camera as the D300 is for me anyway "the bee's knees".
