I do love the Owl, Cathy. This one looks like our Great-horned owl that we get here. When I'm lucky, we even get it in our tree or the neighbours tree. They are huge!

He could be a chaffinch, Cathy, although I'm not completely up on my Old World birds.  But I photographed one in Ireland that looked a lot like this one and my Audubon buddy told me he was a chaffinch.

Ruth is right, this a male Chaffinch. The female is rather dull in comparison, as often happens in the bird world (but NOT the human world).

Thanks Sue.  It looked a lot like the bullfinch a few pictures higher.  Must be difficult to tell them apart in the wild!
