On an episode of "Ghost Hunters International" the team went down into an outliette in a purportedly haunted castle (it might have been Warwick Castle; I think they do have an oubliette). It is a rather narrow space but if I remember correctly, it opens up at the bottom. Mind you, once they put you down there, you won't be coming out again alive.
