Eeeewww!!!  Creepy.  On an episode of "Ghost Hunters International" the team went down into an outliette in a purportedly haunted castle (it might have been Warwick Castle; I think they do have an oubliette).  It is a rather narrow space but if I remember correctly, it opens up at the bottom.  Mind you, once they put you down there, you won't be coming out again alive.  The purpose was to put someone down there and then just forget about them.
