I would also guess that the 1st one is Ludlow - although the street looks too wide for there the houses are typical Ludlow type. I am not sure about the castle - again it could be Ludlow castle or York. The last one I would guess as the Bromyard area as there are alot of those type of buildings there. |

I haven't been able to find anything so far on the internet that has a mural tower like this, the shape seems to be quite uncommon. I have searched all the photos I can find on the internet for York and Ludlow but nothing matches. I have googled mural towers, curtain walls, priories, abbeys, castles, walled gardens, etc, and still no luck. Stephanie I think you must be right with Bromyard, I had made a note that I thought it was Bromyard area, but was hoping to find more detail. Thanks to everyone for help and suggestions so far, I'll keep on hoping that POE members come up with the solution.

Will ask my family about the Ludlow one at the weekend - they live in bewdley so go there regularly! |

But the castellated/crenellated/battlemented wall has me totally stumped. Have looked at thousands and thousands of pictures, have checked out what information is available on licences issued by the crown allowing someone to add this fortification feature and nothing, absolutely nothing matches. The closest I have come to finding anything remotely similar is/are: Ludlow: looks like the right colour and style of stone but no picture has shown a wall like this and nowhere have I found any mural/bastion tower of this design (anywhere); Eastor: has battlemented curtain walls, but the style is not the same Arundel: has battlemented walls, very well covered with pictures, but again no matching tower, and the walls seem much higher Penshurst Place, has similar walling but the finishes on the merlons and the coppings are different as is the bottom of the wall. York, crenellated walls but much greyer stone and larger blocks. However, I still feel that it could be Yorkshire and would like to put this on the genealogical Yorkshire sites and ask them, also the Hereford & Kent gen sites, but how would I link it to this picture on POE for anyone to view it?
