Hi Liz and a belated welcome to POE, to reply to your question it has to be a bit of a mix. I always try to have the compact with me at work or even just going to do the weekly shopping chores.Don't think I have got that special shot like that on the off chance, but have taken a few OK ones . Most shots are a trip to somewhere for a specific visit as a family with a chance to sneak some photography as well. At the moment most visits revolve around places with a medieval connection to my daughters family history searching(she is in the 1100s at the moment).Finially there has to be a dedicated photo hunt such as my trip to St. Nectan's Glen near Tintagel, a truly magical spot if you are ever in Cornwall. Good luck with you search for those special shots to show us all on POE. Good luck also with the camera hunt and yes it is a minefield out there and one that changes so quickly but if you are after a bridge camera with barrel focus I think there are only a couple to choose from, but i am not an expert. Chons Da ( good luck in Cornish)
