She took the camera to a camera shop and the sales person used an expensive computer program to retrieve all the photos from the camera's memory. |

The Delete button has stopped the camera from accessing them so it thinks they're not there. |

Put RECUVA into Google seach box and you will get directed to a site where you will be able to download this program. it is very good and i have used it on several occasions. Main thing when you do have an incident like this is to NOT use the card as soon as you realiose the problem as this can affect the ability of the program to recover lost files. |

Back in 1979 before digital cameras were invented, my father took a lot of photos in Great Britain and Europe. When he returned to Australia and had his photos developed, all the photos were blank. He wrote a letter to the airline company and asked if x-rays could delete photos and was told they couldn't. All he had left were some postcards.I don't know what he did wrong.Maybe he left the lens cap on but I doubt it. Fortunately, with a digital camera we can recover photos. |

This is why recovery software might sometimes only recover a fragment of the original image, particularly if the card has continued to have been used. Having said that, it is amazing what can be recovered, even from cards that have been re-formatted. I have used a programme from SanDisk called RescuePro with great success, which used to be bundled free with some SanDisk Memory Cards. Unfortunately, SanDisk no longer support this programme, but there are many others. Edited by: Edward Lever at:18th January 2013 13:46 |

RECUVA is very similar but maybe not quite as powerful but i have always hade reasonable results from it. |

POE policy is that advertising is not allowed in the threads but should anyone wish to advertise on POE they are able to purchase space. Thank you CathyML exactly right! When a file is deleted from a camera, it doesn't mean that the file has been wiped from camera, the files system just make a "deleted" flag to the data, which means we can't see it as normal. It means that until new data is saved to the space where the original data was, thus overwritten, it will still be available to recover and therefore you can try to use Card Data Recovery for deleted photos from camera. I'm paranoid about backing up now after we lost a whole bunch of photos from a trip to France in 2007. The laptop we had at the time was dodgy so as we were going around France I backed up to a CD, and it was the CD that got lost, now I tend to back up to the internet and I'm careful where I store my CD's. |
