Hello, I am a college student (aka relatively low on cash) but I am planning on saving up so I can take a trip to England with some friends hopefully next spring break or the following winter break. Does any one have any suggestions on where would be good places to visit? (especially cheap ones:P) Or any suggestions relating to an England trip in general? (It'll be my first time...)

Also, I love the countryside/nature, so scenic areas would be great too.

But any ideas would be appreciated:D

Thank You!!!

Welcome JammSchra - sounds like a great plan. I don't think there are any areas alot cheaper than others - the London area is probably more expensive as they have a higher cost of living. You can order your accommodation through POE which makes it cheaper. An alternative would be youth hostels - they are cheap and cheerful places for students to stay. There are so many great places here - the Cotswolds, the Lake District, Wales, Devon & Cornwall. I'm sure you would love them all!

Hi JammSchra, welcome to POE from Anna and Ron! Why don't you introduce yourself via the 'User Introduction' for a great welcome from the members? This thread of course will still be responded to but as for 'cheap', well I think you are forgetting this is the UK, where we pay more than most in Europe for everything! As Stephanie points out you can get your accommodation cheaper than by going direct, if you book securely online through www.picturesofengland.com/hotels/ where it can work out just as cheap as the B&B's sometimes, with better facilities. You will have to be selective though. Good luck anyway.

Rons idea sounds good.

Or get a tent! loads of decent campsites all over UK, if you got a car you could tour up from cotswolds, peak district, trough of bowland and up into the lake district!! all really beautiful places, apart from the HUGE cost of fuel, it would be a pretty cheap trip, and pretty good fun!

Hi Jamm, youth hosteling is cheap, good and you meet people of your own age doing the same things. A cheap flight into manchester then an hour by train would get you into the English Lake District, Heaven on earth. try this site-

CHESTER: a lovely city that has it's complete medieval walls in place. There's lots to see and do. It makes a great centre to stay and visit Liverpool, Manchester and Birmingham etc etc. And trips into the countryside are literally a bus trip away.

I can reccommend Laburnum House B&B in Chester. It's cheap and cheerful, but is literally just outside the city walls & within walking distance of the free bus to the train station. There's also a backpackers hostel if you prefer.

Hello JammSchra and welcome to POE!  I don't live in the UK so I can't really offer any advice, but there are many here who can. I hope you have a great time when you visit!
