It reminds me of the days of the fifty's and sixty's when no matter where you went there was a hurriedly scribbled pair of hands, a big nose, a face looking over the wall at you. Remember it anybody?

I remember it well, Ron.  We called him Kilroy over here.

Hi Ray:  Great to see you!  It's something we definitely don't want over here this year, so hopefully Florida got their act together.

In the 2000 presidential election, the state of Florida (who's governor at the time was Jeb Bush, brother of our illustrious president) was still using punch card ballots.  The race was so close that a recount was demanded and many ballots were disqualified because of "hanging chads" or incompletely punched ballots.  A lot of ballots were either miscounted or disqualified and utimately GWB ended up with the count, getting all of Fla's electoral votes and winning the election.  It made Florida the laughing stock of the nation, and cost Al Gore (who actually won the popular vote) the election.  Sad.

Hi Ruth

Nice to see you too. that is interesting because it is similar to the holes punched in paper on a ticker tape. so yes, that is what a chad is, the circle of paper that comes from a punched card. Interesting!
