Hi everyone!  My name is Karen and I am from London Ontario Canada.

I first found this site when I was doing some research on England prior to a trip my Mother and I had planned for last May 2007.  This is a GREAT site!  Mom is originally from Chelmsford but was evacuated to Canada during the war.  She thought this might be her last trip to England and wanted to show me where she grew up.  We took a bus tour of Devon and Cornwall - I think that we were at Lands End around the same time as Peter was last May!  The weather was horrible - very cold, wet and windy but inspite of that, we had a great time.  It would be nice to re-visit some of the sites we saw but in good weather (sunshine).  We then met my aunt and uncle and drove around Essex, the Cotswolds, Oxford, Stratford on Avon, Woodstock, Warwick to name a few.

I have posted a few pictures but I can honestly say that most of them don't compare to everyone else's one the site.  I rarely took any photos until I bought my digital camera so it took awhile to get use to it.  The other challenge I had was taking pictures from a moving bus or car.  I didn't expect to fall in love with England but it happened anyway.  I hope that I can make it back some day.  I would love to explore the rest of England and possibly Wales (my Dad was from Wales).  I enjoy looking at everyone's pictures and reading the posts on the forum when I get a chance, which unfortunately isn't very often. Smile

Welcome Karen from London, Ontario. I hope you will have a wonderful time here and join us on the forum often.

I lived in London, Ontario way back in 1981, I wonder how it has changed.

Looking forward to getting to know you.

Thanks for the welcome Sue.

I think you would be surprised at how little London has changed over the years.  I lived in Mississauga for 12 years and when we moved back to London it was just like I had never left.

I lived in Mississauga too as well as several other places around Ontario (Oshawa, Downsview, Etobicoke, Niagara Falls). Maybe one day I'll get to go back.

Hi Karen:  Welcome to POE. I haven't been to Canada since I was a small girl and my Dad took us to Thousand Islands.  This is a great website.  I don't know why I always say that to new people joining the forum when it's so obvious.  Smile  Have a great time here., Karen.

Hi Karen

I'm glad you fell in love with England, it's a great place to live, even though it's expensive.  Iv'e only ever been to cornwall/Devon once myself, it's a nice place.  I will have to go again to look up my ancestors.

Karen

Following the welcome from Maria (MG), the only MG with a computer brain that is Karen, is ME! Yes, I am the one that everybody likes to have a pop at, but all in good fun (I think!). As most have said thus far this is a brilliant website and forum where you will soon become hooked with everything that's going on. Some of the members are out and out mad (you don't have to be to enjoy it, but it does help) as Peter will confirm, but then he is barking anyway! Join in soon with more posts and pics.
