Hi Everyone!  As you can see from the title I have lived in many places.

I am trying to put my family history together for my family and would appreciate any help that is available!

I was born in Lancashire in 1950, but what I am researching at the moment is my Dad's (SIRETT) birthplace.  He was born in Scawby, Lincolnshire in 1925.  I think my granddad Sirett was recuperating at a sanitarium in Lincolnshire from mustard gassing during WWI.  He met and married my grandmother Mary Elizabeth GILLIATT of Scawby in 1919.  Her parents both worked for the Squire at the Manor and supposedly had a cottage on the Manor Farm.  I am having trouble finding any information.  Her father Bert/Herbert? Gilliatt was the Kennel Man (?) and her mother was a seamstress for the Squire's wife.  Does this sound familiar to anyone?  Does anyone know anything about a Manor Farm or a Squire's Manor in or around the Scawby, Lincolnshire area around the turn of the century (the 1900's that is!)

I have been back to England many times and done quite a bit of family research, but it was always on my Mom's side of the family.  This is the first time I have tried to follow up on the GILLIATT connection.

I look forward to sharing information with you.  Thanks for your help

  Shelia.

Good luck with your search. I confess I am not even familiar with either surname you mention, it may very well be regional

I hope you join us here on the forums too.

Hi Friends! Thanks for your responses.  Yes Andy,  I do mean Scawby near Brigg.  I managed to find an Ordinance Survey map last night and a "Manor Farm" is noted.  I am also interested in any information around Bolton, Lancashire area for Bannister or Daniels.
