G’day Richard, I guess you are wondering why

I’m the last of the posters here to say “Hi”!

It’s not that I ignored you, nor show some respect  

Or similar words to that effect

I happen to be a little decrepit in the head

So, I’ll give you a wink or a smile instead

I think I should warn you, that some of us here

Tend to be a little unusual…even a bit queer -

And, of course, I use the word in its original sense

As for meself, I’m considered somewhat dense

Though I do try me hand at being a poet

And enter me work in this forum, just so’s I can show it

You may find some of it stupid, even uncouth

But it’s mainly for adults and not for the youth

So if you read it  and think some of it weak

Remember, it's merely the scribblings of an goat, so to speak

Apologies the last line should read.........scibblings of AN OLD goat.

Aw, shucks, me darlin’ I don’t deserve that

Some that I know calls me a silly old bat

I writes ‘bout whatever comes in to me mind

But some that I know can be very unkind

I likes to sit at me desk and just write

Even into the middle of the night

I grabs me pen and paper and begins to scribble

Oh darn, I’ve begun to dribble

‘Ang on a minit while I wipes me face

Can never find a tissue in this place

Guess I’ll ‘ave to use the back of me ‘and

That’s not really what I had planned –

Oh yeah, sometimes I suddenly sees a bright light

And I finks of somethin’ about which I can write

Oi! Lyn are yer still here

Or ‘ave I bored ya to ya very last tear?
