Hi, I'm Jean from Leeds.

I am 56 years old and the elder sister of Pamela Brooke (Pam from Leeds.). Our interests are very similar and I also like watercolour painting. I heard about this site from Pam originally and joined before she did. I liked it so much I persuaded Pam to sign up, and has been said losing Mum recently this site has been a comfort and an inspiration through the past few weeks. Mum would have loved the photos on this site (especially any of owls) and the room would have been decorated with pictures from this site.

Enough doom and gloom for now. I would also like to take up photography as I have had an interest in it since I was at art college (Monday afternoons were fascinating) but finances being as such I can't unfortunately. All I have is a point and shoot camera (Oh for a digital one) and I hope the ones I have taken have turned out OK.

I have been told that you can live to be a thousand years old and never see all that England has to offer - What do you think?

Hello Jean, welcome from me to the very best website and forum on the net bar none! The members here really do care about one another and are a source of information should you require photographic help. There is also a huge amount of collective support and prayers available via the website with so much interesting stuff to look at that it really will take ages to get through it all, but anyway good luck and enjoy every minute of it! You know that you can scan in your photos and then post them on POE. I have done that with some of my older ones.

My only wish is that I can live long enough to see,at least most,of England before I go. By the way, dont worry about us being scared by the photo in your avatar, Have a look at mine. He he h. Scared yet?

Hello, Jean and Welcome!  My condolences to you.  Yes, you will love this site.  And I think you're right about there being too many wonderful places to see over there in a lifetime.  But I think everyone from England who posts on this site has a special appreciation for it that most people don't.  So hold on to that.  And for those of us who can only tour England via POE, it's a wonderful resource.  The people here are fantastic too, a wonderful community.  Enoy it here, Jean.
