I have been so enjoying the slideshows, especially of the stunning English countryside. I have never visited England or anywhere in Europe for that matter, so I will enjoy the loveliest country on Earth via your site. Thank you for it. When things are quiet at work I look at all the beautiful photos, and my life is deeply enriched. I am 54 years old and a secretary living with my husband in Richmond, Virginia but hail originally from the Finger Lakes region of Western New York State--Rochester, New York to be precise. My passion is art. I currently make miniature patchwork quilts but before that was a counted cross stitch designer. My website is www.brightneedle.com and I invite you to visit. My father was born in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada, and his parents emigrated there from Wales. I am mainly English and German on my mother's side. My father, a widower, and I are both huge Dame Judi Dench fans. My favorite TV show is "As Time Goes By," which airs on our local Public Broadcasting station on Saturday nights, along with "Are You Being Served?" and other British comedies. My favorite night of the week. My husband's parents were both Danish, his dad emigrating from Denmark over 70 years ago. Thank you for reading this, and thank you again for the most beautiful website I have ever visited! --Liz |

My only recollections of Oshawa is regards to GM of Canada, and it's earlier incarnation as the McLaughlin Car Co. and their long association with Buick whence they eventually built the McLaughlin-Buick limousine for King Edward VII. |

I wish you many hours of happy virtual touring as you go through the many pictures, and maybe one day you can tour the country for real. I lived for a short time (matter of months) in Oshawa, Ontario way back in the early 80's. |

My Mom is a quilter and my Grandmom did lots of counted cross stitch too. My Mom actually has pen pals in various countries all doing quilting. In fact as I sit here at the computer my feet are resting on a stool which my grandmother cross stitched a cover for with the American Eagle and the 1776 date on it. I hope it lasts forever since she made it. Glad you are enjoying the pictures on this site. I hope one day you will be able to visit the country yourself. |
