Hi Pete, Am I correct in saying that Tasmania was once known as Van Diemens land?

I had a relation sent there as a prisoner many years ago 1842 to be precise he was sentenced to 7 years for stealing a lady's hat and a copper boiler,  I had info of him from Australia for about  5 years and then nothing, he used to abscond, be put in chains etc, it is interesting what one finds out when doing the family tree.

Yes I agree this is the best website on the net so WELCOME and when you next visit England don't forget East AngliaLaughing
