I am an 84 year old Emeritus Professor of Biochemistry who has taken up genealogy as a hobby with some affinity to science in that both are like detective stories. I have traced my family history from both my parents back to Crusader times, and have decided to make a small booklet for my 8-year old Australian grand-daughter who will be doing a school project on 'Olden Times' next term. I had the idea of decorating a family history story with some pictures of the manor houses in which some of her ancestors lived together with pictures of how they dressed at that time. I discovered that you have some of these on your web site and will be grateful to your members for permission to use them for this purpose. I do not think that I can match their quality, but having travelled a lot I could post some ancient pictures such Angkor Wat just before Pol Pot arrived there! Your Forum sounds fun. Brian |

We look forward to your pictures, and joining us here on the forums. |

I too have studied my ancesters back to William the Conqueror and even furthur. I also started writing an auto biography to give to my Grandchildren who live in Canada. Its a long way from being finished but I hope it will give them some insight to the way we lived and where we came from. good luck in your quest. |

This link may introduce you to writer, Hugh Kennedy.. Crusader Castles of the Levant. If you have any books to suggest to me, kindly do so. I am interested in weaponry, seige strategy and defence during the crusades. Have you travelled to these fortifications and examined the architectural features and ingenious layout design of floor and wall plans? http://www.amazon.com/Crusader-Castles-Hugh-Kennedy/dp/0521799139 |
