I'm 23 and I have some happy childhood memories of England - I was born and lived there until I was seven, and we returned a few years later to visit family. I gradually became fascinated by England (and the rest of the UK, really) over the last several years. The history, the literature, the countryside... I'm sure I don't need to go into much detail! I started researching my family tree a few years ago, and most of my ancestors were English. I love learning about their lives, the places they lived, and the events they would have seen/heard about. Finally last year we went back... My family said I had overly 'romantic' views of England, and the trip would be a return to reality. Unfortunately (for them!) it made my fascination worse. I felt so at home, and I loved all the historical sites in particular. I actually miss the place and I can't wait to go back. I am determined to return and possibly to live in England for an extended period of time. The only thing that really holds me back is how upset my mum would be if I moved so far away from her! WA is a long way from 'home'.....we know, we travelled to Perth and Fremantle about 18 months ago. The honest reality is that the UK and Australia are very different and yes, I suppose the biggest agony would come from leaving family behind, whichever way you go! Anyway, POE can hopefully help by way of the wonderful pictures, that the equally wonderful members submit here. They really are a caring bunch of people as you will soon find out. Join in here in the forum whenever you can Hannah...and nice to have you as part of the 'family'.

Friends, laughter, banter, chat and of course not forgetting the most wonderful photos the members are willing to share with us "lost souls" overseas, lol |
